Drones are a relatively new technology, first developed by the military in the early 2000’s and now available for consumers in most recent years. Many industries from crop farmers to Amazon delivery services have begun to use drones to speed up their business operations. When it comes to the video and marketing industry, having a drone to film footage for your company gives you the latest edge in many ways.

What Is A Drone?

A drone is an unmanned aircraft that can fly remote control through software-controlled plans embedded in their systems. They work through by use of sensors and sensitive GPS systems. Drones are formally known as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

Camera Angle: Perspective Is Everything

For many athletic companies, having a drone to capture an athlete running, skiing, or using equipment in promotional video is key. When you add the element of the drone, you have the ability to have multiple camera angles and viewpoints a normal camera on the ground would otherwise be unable to capture. Drone camera views to increase the scope of view for a consumer. The more interesting your video is, the more likely consumers will continue watching to view your product or service.

For the booming real estate industry, having a drone to show aerial footage to clients has a huge impact, and provides a nice dramatic and informative perspective. Providing your clients all of the tools and resources before they make a buying decision will give you a hand up, as this is an essential business skill. Drone footage gives real estate clients more knowledge about the property listings. For cities on the west coast, and now here in Denver, top real estate agents have begun to use drone footage of property listings to show their clients.

Travel agencies can also utilize the drone technology to show their clients breathtaking views of places like China. The camera shots would previously be expensive through helicopter flight or methods of plane travel. Droids are very inexpensive and are only getting smarter while producing quality and stabilized video.

Not only for sports and real estate are drones beneficial, but event services as well. Concerts film live audiences with their drone technology, and capture angles with a free range of movement more liberating than the previous cable hosted videos.

Photographers have even used drones to take photos of celebrities. Though this is somewhat invasive, it’s becoming popular in cities like Hollywood, CA. The advantage is all about placement. The drone can go places and take digital images where a normal person on foot wouldn;t otherwise be able to do.

One man goes as far to use drones to pull pranks, check out how he dresses a drone up as a ghost for Halloween:

Why Drones?

Drones are becoming increasingly popular for all industries. Drones have even made an appearance at the Olympics to capture historical feats from performing athletes. The new technology provides freedom from location benefits, as well as speed. You can live record from your drone, or capture footage and photos that can be downloaded after the flight session.
